AspireUK - Asparagus Decision Support System

Welcome to AspireUK

AspireUK is an interactive decision support system that asparagus growers can use to help achieve higher yields and better long-term crop performance by monitoring and managing root carbohydrate (CHO) content during the crop’s annual growth cycle.

The system was developed in New Zealand during the late 1990s and has been adapted for UK asparagus production systems by Dr Kim Green of ADAS (see Key Contacts) in a project supported by British asparagus growers through the Horticultural Development Council (HDC Project FV 271). The system and the science behind it were described in papers presented at the 10th International Asparagus Symposium at Niigata, Japan in September 2001 and at the 11th International Asparagus Symposium at Horst, The Netherlands in June 2005. These papers can be downloaded via these links (Japan and Netherlands).

Aspire UK has two sections. The public section contains general information about the system, and the secure section is available only to registered users.

The system has been optimised for use with Internet Explorer, although it can be accessed with recent version of any of the standard internet browsers.

Registered users can proceed directly to Login.
